​The MIMS Summer Internship Program is a five-week immersive program where students have the opportunity to receive hands-on clinical training, shadow health professionals in a variety of patient care settings as well as develop their leadership skills through professional development workshops.

Eligbility 
  • Be at least a 10th grader in high school, a high school graduate, an undergraduate or postgraduate student, or a recent graduate

  • Be from a population/group that is underrepresented in the health professions

  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in health

  • Be available to participate full-time for the duration of the 4-week program

  • No minimum GPA requirement

Program Benefits
  • Shadowing in health fields such as emergency medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, internal medicine, public health, nursing and/or physician assistant, and dentistry (depending on availability)​

  • Hands-on clinical training including splinting, suturing, phlebotomy, and EKG training

  • 5 health certifications including CPR/AED, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and Bloodborne Pathogens

  • Professional development workshops such as resume building, effective networking, and interviewing

  • One-on-one career advising 

  • Life coaching sessions and team-building activities

  • Civic service opportunities and field trips to health institutions​ (depending on availability & Covid-19 updates)

  • Near-peer mentorship opportunities

  • Paid stipend (based on financial need)
