Our Programs

Our programs center around three core pillars: mentorship, career exposure, and leadership development. Grounded in these foundational components, we equip participants with the confidence, self-efficacy, hope, and supportive networks needed to overcome barriers and celebrate successes as they navigate their health career journey.

  • Summer Internship

The 5-week Summer Internship Program is an immersive program where students have the opportunity to receive hands-on clinical training, shadow health professionals in a variety of patient care settings as well as develop their leadership skills through personal and professional development workshops.

  • Pre-Apprenticeships: MADE and Summer

MIMS offers two paid pre-apprenticeship programs for underrepresented individuals 16-24 years old with an interest in pursuing a career as a Community Health Worker/Promotoras/Representative (CHW/P/R), Substance Use Navigator (SUN) or other similar roles. Both programs are partnered with the Alameda County Health Coach Apprenticeship, providing a direct linkage to free community college credit and paid on-the-job training opportunities.

  • Mentor Program

The Mentor Program pairs post-secondary students and graduates with a health professional or health professional student mentor for 6 months. The program is designed to give participants access to individual mentorship, webinars, and additional resources that will provide them with a competitive edge as they prepare for the next phase in their health career journey.
