Pre-Apprenticeships

MIMS offers two pre-apprenticeship programs for underrepresented individuals 16-24 years old with an interest in pursuing a career as a Community Health Worker/Promotoras/Representative (CHW/P/R), Substance Use Navigator (SUN). These individuals serve as valuable liaisons between community members, the healthcare system, and social services. Both programs are partnered with the Alameda County Health Coach Apprenticeship, providing a direct linkage to free community college credit and paid on-the-job training opportunities.

The main thing that I learned during the program is the importance of having an open perspective in regard to the people that we work with and to make sure that every time you interact with those within the community to do so with a strong mind and an open heart willing to listen and to not judge.
